Well, the stimulus bill just passed the House. As this is all in the middle of unfolding, I’m going to leave the commentary for another day, but in relation to our strategy of exploring the Rust Belt, I’d like to draw attention to this state-by-state map of where the money would go under the House’s version.
See all that red in Ohio and Michigan? Exactly. Whether you support the stimulus or not (and there’s enough support for it in the Senate that it’ll probably pass without too much altering), there’re going to be a hell of a lot more dollars in that area in the next few years than there is right now.
Yeah it passed. Sort of like a kidny stone, especially after Gerthner’s tepid ratification. And the Republicans, in an astounding display, voted unanimously against it. Which makes sense. They voted unanimously for all the measures that helped screw up the U.S. economy in the fist place.
